Cookie Policy
Last updated: November 6, 2026
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We also use similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of them.
2. Your choice
The first time you visit www.appalize.com or app.appalize.com, a cookie banner asks for your choice. One choice applies to both sites.
- EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland, or if we cannot tell where you are: only essential cookies run until you allow more.
- Elsewhere: analytics and marketing cookies run by default, and the banner tells you so. You can reject them.
You can change your choice at any time. Select Cookie settings in the footer of www.appalize.com, or go to Settings → Privacy in the app. We store your choice in the apz_consent cookie for 180 days. When you are signed in, we also record it in your account.
3. Cookies we use
3.1 Essential (always on)
These cookies are needed for sign-in, security and your basic settings, so you cannot turn them off.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session and authentication cookies | Keep you signed in and protect your account | Until you sign out or the session expires |
XSRF-TOKEN | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | Session |
apz_consent | Stores your cookie choice | 180 days |
| Language and theme | Remember your language and light/dark mode | Up to 1 year |
3.2 Analytics (optional)
These cookies show us which pages and tools people use, so we can improve them.
| Provider | Cookies | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) | _ga, _ga_* | Page and feature usage statistics |
| PostHog | ph_* | Product analytics and session replay |
| Microsoft Clarity (www.appalize.com only) | _clck, _clsk | Heatmaps and anonymised session replay |
If you do not allow analytics, PostHog keeps no data in your browser between visits and Clarity does not load. Google Analytics still loads in Consent Mode, but it sets no cookies and sends only cookieless, anonymous pings.
3.3 Marketing (optional)
If you allow marketing cookies, we use the following tools to measure how our ads perform and to show our ads to people who are likely to find Appalize useful.
| Provider | Cookies | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.) | _fbp, _fbc | Measure Facebook and Instagram ads; build ad audiences |
| Google Ads tag (Google Ireland Ltd.) | _gcl_* | Measure Google ads |
| Appalize | apz_ft | Records the page and campaign (UTM tags, ad click id) that first brought you to us. We use it to see which channels bring customers. Kept for 90 days. |
If you do not allow marketing cookies, these tools do not load and none of these cookies are set.
4. Server-side measurement
When you sign up or pay, our servers may also report that event to Meta and Google. We do this only if you allowed marketing cookies. Section "Advertising and measurement" of our Privacy Policy explains what we send.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, you cannot sign in to Appalize.
6. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If we add a new cookie category, we ask for your choice again.
7. Contact us
